The Department of Gastroenterologydeals with both medical and surgical problems related to GI (Gastro-Intestinal) and HPB (Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary) diseases. This department is headed by Dr.K.D.Chakravarty. He has more than 20 years experience in the field of GI / HPB / Laparoscopic & Obesity Surgery. He finished his surgical training India. Then he served in Armed Forces (Indian Navy) as Graded Specialist Surgery for 5 years. Later he was trained in internationally reputed hospitals like ASAN Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou, Taiwan for more than 2 years. Then he practiced in Bangalore for 9 years as Consultant in the department of Surgical Gastroenterology in tertiary care institutions like MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital and Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences. He has 11 publications in the indexed journals (8 International and 3National journals). He is the author of a text book titled “Liver Transplantation”. He is a life member of IASG (Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology), ASI (Association of Surgeons of India); AMASI (Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India); IAGES (Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons); ICS (International college of surgeons); and Indian Pancreas Club.
